hi!

It took a while as typing stories on a phone is a bit difficult. A week later already :)

Granada was amazing. A beautiful small colonial town. We had three nights here in a beautiful hotel already decorated for christmas! Haha. A fun street with nice restaurants and patios entertained us pretty much everyday. The first full day we had we had a full day tour. First we drove to the Masaya vulcano. One of the craters is still active and it was our lucky day! The wind was kind enough to blow the stinky smoke away from us so we could stay as long as we wanted. Sometimes you can only stay 10 minutes. It was very pretty with a view of other vulcanoes in the distance and the lake of Managua. We walked on the crater edge of one of the distinct ones, beautiful.
After this we went to the village Masaya where we walked over the local market and the busstation. Crazy for us spoiled people ;) we even had our own guard sort of.. We also went to the tourist market, not so much fun but a lot cleaner. After lunch we visited a viewpoint of the laguna of the Masaya vulcano and we went to a girls orphanage. When we got there we were right in the middle of a tropical rainshower! Geez, that's a lot of water. Really sweet girls, all done on donation. Interesting to see.
After this long day we closed off with dinner and salsa dancing! :)

Thursday we had the morning off and i decided last minute to also skip the afternoon excursion and enjoy some relaxing time. In the morning after delicious breakfast at cafe Garden, we walked to the lake of Nicaragua. We visited a church where you can enter the tower for an amazing view and we went to the local market. Rest of the afternoon was relaxing poolside :)
Friday our bus was changed into a party bus as we had a birthday boy :) fun!
We went on our way back to Costa Rica today, another 2 hour bordercrossing. Standing in line and afterwards even had to take the luggage of the bus to put them through scanners (and no one looked). Oh well, we were back without problems. First to Liberia for a stop at the super market and then just 10 minutes to our hotel in the jungle close to Rincon de la Vieja. Very beautiful! Slightly scary as some people spotted a snake.. Well, that happens in the jungle! Luckily not in our cabins. We had a free afternoon which we enjoyed in the pool and i went for an hour long massage. Very relaxing.
In the evening a little party with pinata for the birthday boy haha.
Saturday excursion day again: hiking to view vulcanic mud pools. Very beautiful but hot! 3 hours crossing big tree branches and little rivers. Georgous. I was a bit too tired for another big hike after lunch so i stayed at the ranch with 2 others. Also nice. In the evening we went for dinner in Liberia as we didn't like the hotel food.

Sunday another travel day to La Fortuna/Arenal which i'll leave for next time. We just reached the beach here on the Caribbean side so i'm jumping in the ocean in a few minutes :)

Ciao!
